Springfield - Winston Winfield Rowe died on October 1, 2019.
Born October 23, 1933, to the union of Arthur Wilshire and Evelyn Rowe in Bridgetown, Barbados, he spent his formative years in Barbados. Winston immigrated from Barbados to Springfield, MA in 1960, and officially became a naturalized U.S. citizen in November 1973.
Upon arriving in Springfield, Winston secured employment with a farm in Connecticut providing transportation for staff at the farm and later worked construction.
An avid lover of tennis, Winston could also be found at home watching tennis matches, especially the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, the Australian Open, and the French Open. Winston’s kind spirit will be missed. He would help anyone he could. Winston had a special love for children and always did unique things for them like providing money to children walking by while he enjoyed time on his porch.
Winston leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley Felton-Rowe of Springfield, MA, one brother, Victor Rowe, of Brooklyn, New York, two god daughters, Desiree Leaston and Gay Miller, one godson, Alexander Leaston, two stepsons, Clinton Felton, Jr., and Donald Felton, a special niece, Jeannette Millar, of River Edge, New Jersey, his life-long friend, Lester Phillips and his daughter Heather, as well as several cousins, and nieces and nephews.
A public viewing will be held at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Visit
