LONGMEADOW - William Francis McMahon, age 83, of Longmeadow, MA was called home peacefully on April 26, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Born December 30, 1931, in Arlington, MA, he leaves his wife of 55 years Shirley (Asselta) McMahon, his two daughters, Donna Brown and Brian Nemeth of Agawam; Cindy and Michael Sears of Chicopee, and his son William J. and Brenda McMahon of East Longmeadow, MA. Bill had five highlights in his life and he called them his grandkids, Jheremy Brown, Danielle Brosseau, Lance Corporal Nicolas Brosseau USMC and his wife Brittany, Alexandria McMahon and Madison McMahon. He leaves brothers Robert and Joseph McMahon, sisters Caroline, Rose Marie, and Rita. In addition, brothers Godfrey and Johnny predeceased him.
Bill was a proud United States Army Korean War veteran. He retired from Pratt and Whitney after 28 years as a mechanic. Bill enjoyed calling BINGO with his friends, watching all Boston/New England games, and his annual trip to Martha’s Vineyard.
The family will receive friends on May 5, 2015 at 11:30 AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA with a service at 1:00 PM. The Reverend Father Wayne Biernat of St Michael’s Church, East Longmeadow, MA is officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
