William Melvin Johnson, 68, of Springfield, MA, went to be with the Lord, on October 9, 2021.
He was born on February 20, 1953, in Brookhaven, MS to his parents, W. M. Johnson and Mildred (Howard) Johnson. Melvin was a long-time resident of Springfield and attended schools in Springfield, including Springfield Technical High School. He was previously employed by Digital Corporation as a machine operator. Melvin was a member of Straightway to Heaven Church in Springfield. He loved sports and was a fan of the Boston Celtics and Dallas Cowboys.
He is predeceased by his father, W. M. Johnson, and two brothers, Robert Johnson and David Johnson. Melvin is survived by his loving mother, Mildred Johnson of Springfield, MA; five brothers: Paul Johnson Sr., Charles (Lydia) Johnson, and Thomas Johnson all of Springfield, MA, Gregory (Anjanette) Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Kenny Johnson of Boston, MA. and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends to cherish his memory.
Viewing will be held from 10 AM – 11AM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA followed by a service at 11AM. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
