Walter E. Sears

AGAWAM—Walter R. Sears, 72, passed away on February 5, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, MA on September 8, 1942 to the late Roger and Stella (Zaback) Sears, he proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps in Viet Nam. He will be remembered as a man who was always wonderful to his wife and her children. He played cards, watched baseball and especially enjoyed Westerns. He leaves his wife Marjorie E. (Staples) Sears; step-children Walter Rief (Neci) of Northampton , Arthur Rief of Greenfield, Patricia Albert (Lynn) and Judith Mahan of FL; Coral Rief-Duffy of Sunderland and Dianna Rief of Williamsburg; siblings Chester Sears of Monson, Amelia LaMountain of WVA and Julian Rider of CA; 10 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren; 6 nieces and 2 nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son-in-law Michael Mahon. The wake will be February 10, 2015 from 4-6 pm at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. Relatives and friends are also welcome at a service to be held on February 11, 2015 at 11:15 am at the Funeral Center. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
