BRIMFIELD – Una A. Samsel, 90, a resident of Brimfield, MA., passed away at Wing Memorial Hospital on Thursday, November 28, 2013. Born March 16, 1923 in Springfield, MA, she was a daughter of the late Minnie and Cotton Mather. Una was a graduate of The High School of Commerce in Springfield. She was predeceased by her husband Zigmont Samsel in 2006. She will be sadly missed by her nephews and nieces, Mark Demerski and his wife Cynthia of Monson, Jon Demerski and Carol Stone of West Springfield, Dianne Wemyss and her husband William, and James Babinski and his wife Dottie all of Springfield, MA. Predeceased by her sisters Marie Demerski, Edna Walsh and Merle Miner and niece Rita Lynch. She also leaves her great nieces, Marie Wemyss, Jennifer Desormier, Taylor Demerski, 2 great- great nieces and 1 great-great nephew. Aunt Una was an avid sports enthusiast, involved in the Junior Hockey League at the Williston Rink and a major Boston Bruins Fan. She was an active bowler in the Springfield and Palmer leagues and enjoyed country western dancing. She and Uncle Zig enjoyed people visiting them at their lakeside home they built together in Brimfield. She will be missed by all and most especially by Dianne, Mark and Jon whom she lovingly raised when their mother, her sister Marie passed away in 1965. Aunt Una’s funeral will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM, burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Springfield, MA with calling hours on Tuesday December 3, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave, Springfield, MA.
