Ted Lauterwasser, age 92, entered into eternal life in Heaven with God on October 25, 2019. He died peacefully in his home in Longmeadow, MA with his family by his side.
Ted was born in Morristown, NJ on January 2, 1927 to George and Ruth Lauterwasser. At 18, Ted married his beloved wife of 64 years, Inez Johnson, and in 1945 received his orders to go to Germany with the U.S. Army Air Corps. When WW II ended, Ted returned home to his wife, and together they built a loving family of five children, inspiring each one to graduate from college. He faithfully prayed for each family member-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren-every single day.
Although Ted supported his family as a sales engineer, serving others was his greatest passion. A member of the Springfield Evangelical Covenant Church for 50 years, he helped countless people, especially enjoying working outdoors in their yards and trimming trees. Even in his final days, Ted sent many encouraging emails to his family and friends. Recently he wrote to one of his daughters saying, “I’m so very thankful for you and each one of my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and for the memories I have of your mother. I’m putting my full faith in the Lord for my future and for the future of the rest of my family. Thanks be to God for all his many blessings.”
Ted is survived by five children, Linda (“Lynn”) VanderMey, Beth Holt, Steven Lauterwasser, Elaine Kirchherr, and Debra Metzler, as well as 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
