Susan C. Jackson, 69, a fifty-five-year Western Massachusetts resident, passed away on December 22, 2024. She was born in Boston, MA on January 10, 1955, a daughter of the late Robert and Maudelle (Kirkland) Jackson. She was a graduate of Coyle & Cassidy High School and American International College, where she received a B.A. in sociology, as well as her master’s degree in social work. She was previously a social worker at the Holyoke YWCA and the Child Guidance Clinic in Springfield. Most recently, for the past 31 years, she ran the METCO program at East Longmeadow Public Schools for Springfield school children. Susan loved the ocean, annual visits to Martha’s Vineyard, and enjoying seafood. She also admired fashion and jewelry, snacking on coconut and pineapple, frequent travels and long drives to experience nature and chase sunrises. Most importantly, she loved to laugh and make people feel seen and heard. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Samuel H. Jones on January 3, 2017. She is survived by her daughter Chelsea M. Jacksonjones of Braintree, MA, sister-in-law Shirley Jackson and nieces and nephews: Carmillia Jackson, Charisma Jackson, James Jackson, Sharon Jones, Philip Jones, Pamela Jones, their children and Tonya Sherill and her children. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Jackson. Viewing will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 4 - 5:30PM with a service immediately following at 5:30PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA.
