Springfield - Stella A. McCauley, 94, of Springfield and formerly of Point Lookout, N.Y., beloved wife of the late Archibald J. McCauley, passed away April 26, 2009 at Wingate at Springfield. She was born on May 2, 1914 in the Flatiron “Blissville House” in Long Island City, N.Y. built by her parents, Edvika Ostrowska and Stanislaus Makowski of Poland. She began her married life in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and moved in 1950 to Point Lookout. While raising her daughters, she worked in the summers as a guard at Lookout Point beach, where in later years she enjoyed sitting on the pavilion and taking in the sweeping views of jetties and ocean. She also served as a Republican Committeewoman and for many years worked as a senior clerk for the Town of Hempstead. A skilled seamstress, she took pride in the coats, hats and dresses she lovingly created for her daughters. Stella is survived by her daughter, Denise Lynch and her husband Kevin of West Hartford, CT and her grandchildren, Jude Lemrow of Chicago, Erin Lemrow of Bloomington, IN, Brendan Lynch of Philadelphia, Austin B. Lynch of Los Angeles and their spouses. She is also survived by her nieces Marie and Dorothy and their families and her great-grandchildren, Angelique, Rosie, Joshua, Bridghaite, Lily, Stella Denise and Austin. She was predeceased by an infant son, Patrick and a daughter, Lynne McCauley; her sisters Mary, Felicia, Sophie and brothers Frank and John; her nephews, Dion and Raymond, and her nieces Gloria and Lillian. A private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Queens, N.Y., where Stella will be placed next to her husband and other family members.
