Shirley Labaff

SPRINGFIELD-Shirley LaBaff, 87, died peacefully at her home on December 17, 2012 in Springfield, MA. Born on March 2, 1925 in Springfield to the late William and Mary (Fortin) Beaman, she was a graduate of High School of Commerce Class of 1944. Shirley enjoyed roller skating and met her husband at a competition as a young teenager. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing the ukulele and loved to sing. She had worked for many years at the John H. Breck Company in Springfield and Ken-Mar Tool Company in Agawam where she retired. Following her parents lead, she was a member of Springfield Turnverein located on Plainfield St., and now located in Agawam, MA. This was a German American athletic and gymnastics club. She also belonged to the Springfield Turnverein Blackbirds Sewing Club for over 30 years. Predeceased by her parents, a brother and a sister, she leaves her husband, Alfred Lawrence LaBaff of Springfield; daughter, Verdi Vadnais and her husband, Jacques of Monson, MA; son, Larry LaBaff of East Longmeadow, MA; grandchildren:Mike and Aimee Kurtzhalts and Jean-Paul Vadnais; great grandson, Marcelino Kurtzhalts and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. LaBaff will begin at 8:30 AM on Friday, December 21, 2012 from New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill St., Springfield, MA proceeding to Holy Cross Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts’ Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Funeral Center.
