Ruth B. Birch

Ludlow-Ruth B. (Blanchet) Birch, 91, passed away April 19, 2009 at Wingate of Wilbraham after a short stay. She was born October 11, 1917 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Charles and Maud (Brady) Blanchet. She attended Springfield schools and graduated from Commerce High School. In 1954 she moved to Ludlow and was a resident of Wilson Street for many years. She retired in 1979 after working 35 years at the Division Office of the A&P Tea Co. in Springfield. She is survived by a son Donald of Springfield, a daughter Diane of Ludlow and a beloved grandson, Jason and his wife Mary Ann of Chicopee. She was predeceased by a son, David, two sisters, Lesley Allen of Holyoke and Alma Messier of Springfield, her former husband, George Birch and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill St., Springfield. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers at Wingate at Wilbraham for the excellent care given to Ruth.
