Chicopee – Ross P. Cerrone, 76, passed away on January 20, 2020. He was born and raised in Springfield’s South End on April 18, 1943, a son of the late Peter and Lucy (Mango) Cerrone.
He was a graduate of Cathedral High School class of 1961 and attended Vermont State College and Western New England University. He also served in the Army National Guard in the 104th Yankee Division in the 60’s and owned a neighborhood store in Springfield in the 70’s. He and his wife Gloria also owned and operated the Ship’s Galley diner in Springfield in the 80’s. Ross drove a cab and later managed City Cab for over twenty-five years.
Ross leaves his wife of fifty-three years, Gloria (Ekmalian) Cerrone, his daughters; Lisa of Springfield and Joanne of Maine. He also leaves his brother Richard of West Springfield, and his sister Joanne Breton of Florida, two grandsons, four great grandchildren as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends through the years, and those whom he loved from his church, Second Baptist in South Hadley.
Services are on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Second Baptist Church, 589 Granby Road, South Hadley, MA with visitation from 10-11AM and the funeral service at 11AM. Burial will be at a later date. A reception will follow in the church hall.
