BELCHERTOWN—Rosemary Stackhouse died on October 14, 2012, at home after a long illness. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, March 2, 1945, the daughter of Gerard Stackhouse and Marjorie Giorgi Stackhouse, grew up in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and graduated from Marlborough High School. After attending Worcester Junior College, she lived in the West Village area of New York City for many years, working as a corporate recruiter while also perfecting her skills as a seamstress by designing costumes and garments.In the early 1980s, Rosemary moved to Ware, MA, to live with her brother, Gerard and opened a stained glass studio, selling her creations for many years at juried shows and exhibitions. As a lifelong artist, Rosemary constantly explored new media, always bringing her energy, intelligence, and insight to her own and her friends’ creative endeavors with ideas about production, business, and marketing. In 2006, she moved to Belchertown, and in the year before her death, she was designing an exciting line of handbags, made from found materials. Rosemary is predeceased by her parents and her brother Gerard. She showed great courage and resilience over many years while struggling with illness. She was a true and loyal friend and was always available to help and advise her friends with their lives and their projects. In turn she was loved and will be missed by those many friends.Arrangements are private.
