PALMER-Roger Stevenson Willis, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Palmer Health Care Center in Palmer, Massachusetts. He lived most of his life in Springfield, Massachusetts and Southern California. Born in Springfield in 1936, Roger was a passionate salesman in his business days and a member of the Elks Club. Roger proudly served his country in the US Army and volunteered at the Northampton Veterans’ Hospital. He was proud of his 4 children and 7 grandchildren, son Steve, wife Tonya, grandchildren Taryn and Skyler of Nevada; daughter Lori, grandchildren Kaitlyn and Ryan of Southern California; daughter Beth, husband Rick, grandchildren Matthew and Clint of Wyoming; son Brian, wife Amanda and grandchild Catalina Briez of Southern California. He is also survived by his cousin Jean Franklin of Wilbraham, Massachusetts and many other friends. Roger is preceded in death by his father and mother, Stevenson & Thelma Willis and brother David Willis of Springfield, Massachusetts. The family would like to thank the Palmer Health Care Center and Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts for providing outstanding care for our father during the past few months of his life. He loved you all so much! The family received his cremated remains from New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC on Monday, September 24, 2012. A celebration of life will take place in Southern California in the near future where Roger wanted his cremated remains scattered in the ocean.
