EAST LONGMEADOW--Roberta K. Beck, of East Longmeadow, MA, passed away peacefully at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center on May 4, 2012 at the age of 100. She was the wife of the late William E. Masterson and later the wife of the late Hilding V. Beck. Her children are Bill Masterson of Centerville, MA, and Marilyn Webb of Longmeadow, MA. Born in 1911 in Norwood, Ohio, she graduated from the University of Cincinnati before marrying and moving to western New York (Buffalo) and to western Pennsylvania to raise her children (Erie, 1940-48; Mount Lebanon, 1948-81). After the passing of her first husband, she moved to eastern Pennsylvania (Doylestown) in 1981 when she married her second. After his death, she moved to Springfield, Massachusetts in 2004, and then to East Longmeadow in 2009. The celebration of her 100th birthday last October was a grand affair, attended by children and grandchildren and spouses thereof, and former neighbors, with music and speeches. Her proudest moments were seeing her children graduate. She was an excellent homemaker and cook, and enjoyed picnicking and playing bridge. In addition to her children, survivors include their spouses, Linda Masterson and David Webb, 4 grandchildren, Laurie Masterson, Michael Masterson, Melanie Masterson, Will Raymond; their spouses, Ramon Cevallos, Kim Masterson, Jose' Tillan, Pam Raymond. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Michael Masterson, Jr., Ben Masterson, Andy Raymond; 2 nieces (Mary Bodmer, Ann King) and 2 nephews (Bob King, Doug King). She was pre-deceased by a grandchild, Don Raymond. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held during the summer. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Roberta's name may be made to Doylestown United Methodist Church, 320 East Swamp Road, Doylestown, PA 18901, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
