Springfield – Robert H. Lilja, 65, a lifelong Springfield resident, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center.
He was born in Springfield on August 10, 1952, the son of the late Herman and Evelyn (Barnes) Lilja.
He attended local schools and was previously employed at State Line Potato Chips, Braman Pest Control and Rest in Peace Exterminating.
He was a drummer in many local bands including Spectrum, Missing Links, Benny & the Jets, Unorthodox and Naughty Parts.
He is survived by his wife Marie H. (Zeleznok) Lilja, his mother in law, Violet Zeleznok and sister in law Doris Zeleznok, both of Ludlow. He also leaves his sister Louise Provost and her husband Robert of South Hadley, two nephews, Robert and his wife Jennifer, James and his wife Nicole, and two nieces, Michelle and her husband Roy, and Pamela Provost, also seven grandnieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108 on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 10am – 10:45am, followed by a memorial service and burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or Berkshire Hills Music Academy.
