Robert E. Kaplan

Springfield – Robert E. Kaplan, beloved husband, father and grandfather, 86, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center.
He was born in New London, CT on September 13, 1930, the son of the late Harry and Mary (Mallen) Kaplan.
He was a 1948 graduate of Bulkeley High School and served in the U.S. Army from January 1949 to July 1952. He graduated from American International College in 1957 earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He was previously employed at several paper and chemical companies and retired from the US Postal Service after over forty years of service.
He is survived by his wife Pearl (Silverman) Kaplan, two sons, Gary A. Kaplan, Glen T. Kaplan, and daughter Linda A. Jackson and her husband Tom. He also leaves two grandchildren, Tyler Jackson and Carly Jackson.
He was predeceased by four siblings, Howard Kaplan, Thomas Kaplan, Gloria Fox, and Thelma Mayer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20,2017 from 12:30 – 1:30pm at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA.
Committal services with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Visit www.nefcc.net
