Robert E. Chartier

EAST LONGMEADOW-Robert E. Chartier, 75, died at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center on June 18, 2010. He was a professional boxer under the name of “Young Sharkey” of Holyoke who had boxed at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He was best known at the Valley Arena in Holyoke. He had retired as a truck driver working for Pride Stores, Inc. Mr. Chartier was predeceased by his parents, Raoul and Bernadette (Masse) Chartier and his siblings, Rene Chartier, Laurette Storozuk and Evelyn Kaeble. He is survived by his brother, Eugene L. Chartier, Sr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Chicopee. All services are private. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield is assisting the family.
