West Springfield – Robert R. Burno, 92, passed away at Heritage Hall South in Agawam on Thursday, September 13, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family.
He was born in Ludlow on September 20, 1925, the son of the late Roy and Bertha (Gagne) Burno.
After attending school, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines and was a U. S. Marine Corps Veteran of the World War II and Korean Wars. In civilian life, he was a brakeman for the New Haven and Penn Central Railroads for twenty years. Bob loved cooking, long walks, and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Theresa L. (Bouchard) Burno on April 17, 2008.
He is survived by seven children: his sons, Thomas of Ware, Robert of Agawam, Gary of West Springfield, John of Florida, his daughters, Ann Sawyer (Howard) of Feeding Hills, Nancy Wynne (James) of Springfield, and Theresa Rainville (Kenneth) of Agawam. He will be sadly missed by thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters; Phyllis, Judith, and Diane.
