Richard A. Smith, 63, passed away at home surrounded by his beloved family on October 18, 2021.
He was born on June 4, 1958, a son of the late Norman and Doris (Faust) Smith. He attended local schools and was a truck driver for several area companies and a proud member of Teamsters Local 404. Richard enjoyed fishing in his free time, the companionship of his dogs and most of all his family. He also collected Hot Wheels, Matchbox and NASCAR model cars.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years Michelle (Fitzgerald) Smith, his children: Richard Smith of Springfield, Jessica Smith of Westfield and Shelby Smith of Springfield, his siblings: Ronald Smith, Donna Denver, Teri Grimaldi, Suzanne Fontaine, Sharon Talbot, Cynthia Brown and will be sadly missed by his grandson Elijah Atwood. He also leaves his mother-in-law Gloria Fitzgerald of Springfield, father-in-law Richard Fitzgerald and his wife Maureen of CT, and his caregiver, his son-in-law Harley Atwood. He was predeceased by his brother Norman J. Smith, Jr.
