Richard M. Ennis, 67, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center.
Born in Northampton, MA on December 1, 1953 to the late Hubert and Leona (Turgeon) Ennis. Adopted through a Native American marriage into the Mohawk Tribe, he is known as Whispering Wind and married Gentle Wind (Nancy L. Perkins) in 2008. Having a gentle and kind spirit he enjoyed helping people and was loved by everyone, a member of the Native American Ceremony Pit Crew at Riverside Mohawk Trail Pow Wow Grounds, in his free time he liked working on engines, and being a volunteer firefighter.
He is survived by his loving partner Nancy L. Perkins and their two daughters Crystal Ennis of Northampton and Naomi Ennis and her fiancé Richard Brown and a sister Cindy Ennis of Springfield.
A walk-thru visitation will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 11-12PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108. A Native American service will be held on Sunday, May 30,2021 at 1PM at the Indian Plaza Pow Wow Grounds, 1527-1551 Mohawk Trail, Rte. 2, Charlemont, MA.
