Richard P. Diefenderfer

August 2, 1932 — July 18, 2024

Longmeadow - Richard P. Diefenderfer, 91, husband of the late Marilyn (Hitchcock) Diefenderfer, passed away on July 18, 2024, surrounded by his two remaining children, Glenn and Gail of Longmeadow MA. Richard was an amateur radio enthusiast from his early teens growing up in Bradford PA and moved to Agawam in 1958. He enjoyed gardening with his wife as well as traveling. He also enjoyed all New England sports and reading. Richard worked at Hamilton Standard for 35 years as Senior thermodynamics engineer. He was also very active with the First Church of Christ, Longmeadow MA. After retiring, he took care of his wife until her passing in 2019. He is survived by his grandchildren; Kaitlyn of North Carolina, Maegan, Laurel and Jack of East Longmeadow MA, Courtney Trumka of LA, Richard Kukla of LA and Ryanne Kukla of Springfield MA; great grandchildren; Michael Trumka of LA, Brooklyn Espat of LA, Aidan Daviau of Springfield MA and Lily Daviau of Springfield MA. Graveside services will be held on August 10, 2024 at 10:00AM at Longmeadow Cemetery on Williams Street. All who knew Richard (Dick) and the children are welcome to attend.
