He was born in Cambridge, MA on June 24, 1952, the son of the late Richard and Emily (Smith) Dias.
He was previously employed at New England Door Closer in West Springfield.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand and marched to the beat of his own drum. Richard loved to laugh and was everybody’s friend. He loved animals, nature, and camping. He was a free spirit who never met a cigarette he didn’t like.
He is survived by his sister Martha Chapman of Agawam, aunts, Shirley Hamer and Evelyn Waldron, nieces Nicole and Megan Chapman, several cousins, and sister in law, Lorraine Dias. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Dias.
