Richard F. Cushing

SPRINGFIELD-Richard F. Cushing, 81, died June 4, 2012 in East Longmeadow, MA. Born in Springfield, MA on July 10, 1930 to the late Gordon M. and Dorothy K. (Walkner) Sanders he served his country in the United States Navy and was a firefighter for the City of Springfield. He enjoyed collecting Matchbox fire trucks, books, Egyptian artifacts and sea shells. He also was an avid traveler and visited Egypt, Spain and Germany and loved to vacation in North Truro on Cape Cod Bay. Predeceased by his parents, he leaves his longtime companion, Christa S. Vester of East Longmeadow, MA. His funeral will be held at 8:15 AM on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from the New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill St., Springfield, MA proceeding to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery for burial with full military honors.
