SPRINGFIELD - Raymond E. Johnson, 80, passed away April 10, 2014. Born November 30, 1933 to the late John and Georgianna (Burrell) Johnson, he was a lifelong resident of Springfield. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Army during the Korean War, worked as a custodian for the United States Postal Service and was a member of New Creation Discipleship Ministries Church.
Predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Barbara (Brown) Johnson, he is survived by his loving daughters Collette Lewis, Andra Johnson, Shairon Davis (Albert), Karon Troy (Joseph) and Artise Carr (Marvin); sisters Beverly McGraw Johnson and Emma King (Fred); step-sisters Ethel Jones, Martha Little and Sallie Cogman and grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also predeceased by a son Jacques; stepmother Lena Mae Johnson; and his siblings Robert, Allen, Kenneth, Isaac, James, Mary and Bertha.
Mr. Johnson’s funeral will be on April 25, 2014 at 11:45AM in Overflowing Love Church of the Living God with visitation beginning at 11AM. Burial with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. The wake will be April 24, 2014 from 6-8PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street Springfield, MA.
