SPRINGFIELD-Ramona Ramos Cruz, 74, died December 13 at Mercy Medical Center. Ramona was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to the late Gregiorio and Maria (Gonzales) Cruz and had lived in Springfield since 2003, coming from Longmeadow and previously Westfield, where she had lived for nearly 40 years. She and her husband operated a number of small businesses in Springfield including Fleebottes Supermarket and Jefferson Market. She enjoyed spending her free time listening to music, dancing, sewing, gardening and cooking. Predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Ramos, a former Fire and Police Commissioner for the City of Springfield, she leaves her son, Benjamin Ramos, Jr., and his wife, Maggie Marrero, of Springfield; her daughters: Elizabeth Letendre, and her husband, Donald, of Coral Springs, FL and Elaine Ramos Edwards, of Springfield; and three grandchildren: Dennis, Danielle and Nicole. The funeral will be held at 11:30 AM on Sunday at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108. Visitation will precede the service from 10 to 11:30 AM.
