Longmeadow – Mrs. Polly (Thayer) Felici, 95, passed away peacefully from lung cancer on Sunday, June 9, 2019 in Enfield, CT.

She was born in Middletown, CT on June 17, 1923, a daughter of the late Julian B. and Anna (Strickland) Thayer.

Polly graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown, CT and UCONN at Storrs, CT where she was a life member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She previously worked for the U S Navy at Pratt and Whitney, Charles P. Martyn Real Estate, Union Trust Co., Valley Bank - Bay Bank, Longmeadow Community Market and Wolf Swamp School Lunch Program. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow and member of the Longmeadow Adult Center where she did volunteer work and served on the Board of Directors for many years, including two terms as Chairperson and delivered Meals on Wheels for over ten years. She was also a poll worker for the town of Longmeadow for over thirty years. In her free time Polly enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking, baking, traveling (eleven times to Italy), watching the Red Sox, sewing, and keeping in touch with friends and family, but her passion was gardening.

She was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Romolo N. Felici and her brother Barnard B. Thayer.

She is survived by her two beloved sons: Paul Felici and his wife Joanne, and their children, Deidra and Joseph of Longmeadow, MA, and Roberto J. Felici and his wife Amy of Enfield, CT. She also leaves three sisters: Mary Wibberley of Colchester, CT, Priscilla Roady of Tallahassee, FL, and Julianna Lunetta of Danbury, CT; two sisters-in-law, Marian Thayer and Burness Felici and a large extended family of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

A period of visitation will be held on June 19, 2019 from 8:15AM – 9:15AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Mary’s Church. Rites of interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Healthcare of New England Hospice, 76 Batterson Park Road, Farmington, CT 06032.
