Peggy Shank Kachon

Chicopee-Peggy Shank Kachon,  84, of Chicopee, MA died on December 26, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield.  Born on December  14, 1925 in Shippensburg, PA she married George Kachon and  together they raised two children, Michael and Carol.  For many years she was employed as an administrative assistant at Milton Bradley.  She had been a member of Old First Church in Springfield.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 430 and served as Past President of Posts  430 and 420, Past Department President, Past National  Executive Person , and National Executive Woman for the State of Massachusetts.  She was an avid reader.  She was predeceased by her parents and husband, George,  and two brothers.    She leaves her son, Michael Kachon, and his companion, Elizabeth Sotirion,  of Springfield; her daughter ,Carol Follett, and her companion, Ronald Marlow, of Springfield; two grandchildren:   Racquel Marr and Stephen Ryan,  three great-grandchildren:  Katelynn and Liam Marr and Evan Ryan; and her good friends, Jenny Lanou and Helen Danton of Springfield as well as her colleagues at the American Legion.  Chicopee – Peggy Shank Kachon died December 26. Her funeral will be held on December 30 at 9:15 a.m. at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield. Visitation will be from 8:00 – 9:15 a.m. proceeding to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery for inurnment.
