Springfield - Paul E. Mueller, 88, died on Monday, November 19, 2018 at home with his family around him.
Paul was born February 14, 1930 in Hawthorne, New Jersey to the late Paul M. Mueller and Frieda S. (Ostler) Mueller.
Paul proudly served in the Korean War and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. He was an automobile mechanic and small business owner. For many years “Mueller’s Service” station was located at 60 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park, NJ.
Paul married Dorothy Dop in August of 1957. They raised their two sons in Midland Park and were married for 59 years. Paul and Dorothy moved to Chatham, MA in 1983 and lived together on Cape Cod until moving to Springfield in 2010.
Paul enjoyed camping, fishing, restoring antique automobiles, carpentry, making stained glass, playing “Pinochle” and watching the Patriots. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Springfield.
Before moving to Springfield, Paul and Dorothy were very active in a number of churches on Cape Cod and in New Jersey. Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy (2017) and their son Paul J. Mueller (2006).
He is survived by his son the Rev. John E. Mueller, Senior Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Springfield and his wife Joy; grandchildren, Alicia Winslow, and Jacob and Joanna Mueller; two great-grandchildren Norah and Elijah Winslow; three nephews and three nieces.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11 AM in the sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Avenue, Springfield, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Trustees of Trinity United Methodist Church.
