Nelson Eugene West, Jr. ("Skip") of West Springfield, age 68, passed away on September 14th, 2026 surrounded by loving family. He was born in Westfield on May 7th, 1958, to Nelson West, Sr. and Margaret (Dvorchak) Kane.

Nelson graduated from West Springfield High School in 1976. He then served bravely in the Air Force for 5 years, including two years in Turkey, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Nelson was employed as a commercial painter until he retired. During his free time, he loved to listen to music and watch movies. He also loved to take long car rides and travel. His favorite place was Washington, D.C.

Nelson was predeceased by his parents, Nelson Sr. and Margaret. He is survived by his longtime partner Laura Parent, his siblings Pamela Brown (Jeffrey), Nonna West, Stefanie Hersom (Skip), Thomas West and Michael West; his nieces Emily, Delaney, Sydney, Logan and nephews, Shaun and Zachary, a great niece, Charlotte, two great nephews, Bradley and Bennett, and additional family and friends.

Services will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at 1390 Main Street, Agawam on September 24, 2026 at 3:00 PM. Please visit www.nefcc.net to leave remembrances and words of sympathy for the family.
