Morrell L. Grass

Morrell (Pete) L. Grass, 89, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on Friday, January 26, 2024 due to several health issues. He was born in Lincoln, ME in 1934 to the late Gilford and Phyllis (Hanes) Grass. He had five siblings, two brothers and three sisters. Pete was a Journeyman/Glazier and worked for many glass companies in the Springfield, MA area. He also owned and operated his own businesses of glass and screen repair, with his wife working by his side many times while living in Somers, CT and Lubec, ME. He also worked as a security guard at the Bank of Boston building in Springfield, MA for many years. After retiring Pete and his wife moved back to Springfield, MA to be closer to family. He loved woodworking, always making things for the house or gifts for his children and grandchildren. In his younger years Pete loved to bowl. He was the first person in the New England area to bowl an 800 series for 3 games. Pete leaves his loving wife, Marjorie (King) Grass of forty-seven years. They were best friends and did everything together. His three children, daughter Christine Walker and husband Denny of West Springfield, son Barry Grass of Palm Bay, FL, daughter Shirley DeSimone and husband Michael of Ludlow, MA. His two stepsons, Russell Cable and wife Liza of Hampden, MA, Randall Cable and partner Maryann of Springfield, MA. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Private services will be held at a later date. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
