Merton G. Seibert

Southwick-Merton G. Seibert was born in Cheshire,CT on February 16, 1929 and passed away May 24, 2012 surrounded by his family. Mert served in the Army as a Teletype Operator in Germany in 1949. Mert operated his own construction business until 1979; he then worked for the Town of Southwick as Superintendent of Highway, Water and Transfer Station Depts. and also as Cemetery Sexton until he retired in 1991. He was a member of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge of Westfield and the American Legion Post 338 and VFW Post 872 of Southwick. He is predeceased by his parents, Madeline and Harry Seibert, his first wife Alice (Murphy) Seibert and his sister Eleanor Toole. Mert is survived by his wife Ruth E. (McNamara) Seibert, his brothers William and Leonard, his sons Douglas H. Seibert and his wife Denise of Southwick and Joseph McNamara of NYC, daughters Brenda L. Seibert of Chicopee, Christine McNamara of Maine and Bobbi Jo (Hill) Williams and her husband Dale of Arkansas. Mert was blessed with six grandchildren and leaves behind Kristofer D. Seibert and his wife Julie of Southwick, Corey M. Seibert of Southwick, Dillion and Cailet Hill and Ethan and Tara Williams of Arkansas. A graveside service with military honors will be held on May 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Southwick New Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
