Maurice S. Lawlor III, 72, of Hampden, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on December 17, 2023, with family by his side. He was the oldest child of three born to the late Maurice and Clare Lawlor. He leaves behind his two sisters, Deborah (Richard) Papa and Elizabeth (William) Burke, his four nephews, Christopher (Lauren) King, Geoffrey King, Ryan Beauchamp, Timothy (Natasha) Beauchamp, his niece, Kaitlen Beauchamp, and his four grand-nephews and nieces.
Maurice, affectionately known as ‘Skip’ or ‘Skipper’ to family and “Mo” to friends, grew up in Vernon, Connecticut, where he graduated from Rockville High School and then attended UConn. Mo had a talent and love for cooking; for more than 40 years he was in the restaurant industry, either working the kitchen in various capacities including lead chef or tending bar. He was always a voracious reader, an avid sports fan, a lover of classic rock & roll music, and he took great delight when spending time with family and his many friends, both old and new. Mo will be remembered as a remarkably knowledgeable man and for his kindness, generosity, wit, and sense of humor. He was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
A graveside Christian burial service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cemetery, 136 Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury, Connecticut. The family also invites mourners to share condolences and memories on the New England Funeral and Cremation Center website at
