Springfield – Mary F. (Cheeks) Patterson, 77, beloved wife of Alexander J. Patterson, passed away on November 15, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center.
She was born in Greenville, South Carolina on November 21, 1940, a daughter of the late Longo and Ruth (Byrd) Cheeks and was a fifty-year Springfield resident.
She was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church and a private duty nurse’s aide who loved cooking for her family and friends.
In addition to her husband Alexander, she is survived by two daughters, Reverend Gail Green (Richard) and Amanda Alexander, sisters in law Annette Cheeks, Dorothy Cheeks, and her niece Marilyn Sullivan. She also leaves eight grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son Ronnie Gene McGowan, her daughter, Marinda Linda McGowan, and her brothers, Harold, Willie, and Eugene Cheeks.
The wake will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 6-8PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. Funeral services are on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11AM followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Please visit www.nefcc.net
