Chicopee – Mary Jane (Gerton) “The Muzz” Muzzy, 83, wife of the late Robert E. Muzzy, passed away on October 16, 2019.
A former resident of Sumter County, “The Villages”, in Florida, she was a Chicopee resident for several years.
She was born in Denver, CO on August 16, 1936, a daughter of the late William and Leila (Wilson) Gerton.
Mary Jane enjoyed spending time with her family, golfing, playing cards, eating ice cream, loved to laugh and joke and was known to say “I’m going to Hollywood”. She previously was a waitress in Florida and at several Springfield area restaurants including the former Albert Steiger Tea Room.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Springfield.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Kimberlee) of Springfield, William (Debra) of Chicopee, Mary Jo Cole (Claudius) of Springfield, Marilyn Zuffelato (Steven) of Springfield and Diane Purchase (William) of Chicopee, and also leaves seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her daughter Linda Reilly and five siblings.
Funeral services are on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Avenue, Springfield, MA. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Visit www.nefcc.net
