WESTFIELD-Mark R. Mulcahy, 70, passed away at home on Monday, May 14, 2012 after a courageous four year battle with COPD. Born on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1942 in Westfield, MA to the late Raymond and Leona (Chrzanowski) Mulcahy, he was a graduate of Westfield High School Class of 1960. Mark had worked for over 40 years as a quality control inspector at Westfield Gage. A talented trumpet player for over 25 years, he would often play at the American Legion Post # 124. In his spare time he loved to hunt in NY State with Fritzy and George and was an avid fisherman. His memberships include the Granby Sportsman Club, Lake George Sportsman Club and Westfield Sportsman Club and in 1999 he qualified for the Senior Olympics in Archery in Orlando, FL. Mark could often be heard echoing the words “I am my toughest critic.” He leaves his devoted wife and caregiver of 26 years, Judy (Nielsen) Mulcahy; children: Scott Mulcahy of Deerfield, FL and Debra Maxton of Westfield, MA; grandchildren: Robbie and Rachel Maxton; step-grandson: Taven Lampson and step-children: Jeffery, Brian and Tammy Nielsen. The family would like to extend many special thanks to the Noble Hospital Hospice & VNA, the best nurse aides: Kathy and Heather and case manager, Natalia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 393 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01105 www.lungusa.org . A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill St., Springfield, MA 01108.
