Marilyn C. Mayo

LONGMEADOW – Marilyn Chase Mayo, 85, passed away on March 18, 2016 at Wingate at East Longmeadow. Born in Hampden, Maine on October 30, 1930 to the late Clarence L. Chase and Velma Griffeth. She married Harvey W. Mayo. Marilyn was a longtime resident of Longmeadow, and had worked at Gino’s Salon in Holyoke. After her retirement she began the volunteer hairdressing program at Holyoke Hospital.She traveled Europe (Switzerland) and Hawaii. Marilyn enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, crossword puzzles, dog obedience training, and was also known for making excellent meals that she prepared for holidays and après-ski parties. She was a member of the Colony Club.She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harvey in 1994 and leaves her children Thomas W. Mayo and his wife Jane of Dallas, TX; Walter A. Mayo and his wife Patricia of Stafford Springs, CT and Susan E. Mayo of Longmeadow. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren David, Jeffery, Andrew Mayo of TX, Joshua Mayo of PA and Vanessa Mayhew of CT. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren Hailey, Nicholas, Molly and Jessica Mayo of TX, Ezra and Silas Mayo of PA, and Elijah, Grace, Eva and Cora Mayhew of CT and a close friend David Hardy of East Longmeadow.
