Marilyn Louise Diefenderfer

Longmeadow – Marilyn Louise (Hitchcock) Diefenderfer, 85, passed away on February 19, 2019.

She was born in Newark, Ohio on July 25, 1933, the daughter of the late William and Katherine Hitchcock.

She was a graduate of Newark High School and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ohio Northern University in 1955. She married Richard P. Diefenderfer on September 17, 1955, and they were blessed with sixty-three years together. They moved to New England in 1958 and enjoyed traveling, and each other’s company. Marilyn ran the Good Shepherd Nursery School for twenty-five years and was a member of First Church of Christ of Longmeadow. She spent the last eleven years of her life at Wingate Nursing Home in Hampden and was a breast cancer survivor and also had Parkinsons Disease.

She is survived by her husband Richard P. Diefenderfer, her son, Glenn Diefenderfer of Springfield, MA, and her daughter Gail Kukla of Longmeadow, MA. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Richard Kukla, and Courtney Trombka both of LA, Ryanne Kukla of Longmeadow, Kaitlyn Diefenderfer of CA, Maegan Diefenderfer, Laurel Diefenderfer, and Jack Diefenderfer, all of East Longmeadow and three great grandchildren, Michael Trombka, and Brooklyn Aspat of LA, and Aiden Daviau of Longmeadow. She was predeceased by her son, Mark Diefenderfer.

Funeral services are on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11AM at First Church of Christ of Longmeadow, 763 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow. MA. Burial will be in April 2019 in Longmeadow Cemetery.
