November 30, 1923 — August 5, 2016

LONGMEADOW – Margaret (Mercolino) Cicchetti passed away peacefully on August 5, 2016 surrounded by loved ones.  Margaret was 92 years old, the youngest of 9 daughters of Enrico and Maria Mercolino and was born in Springfield, MA.  Her father, Enrico, owned Mercolino’s Bakery in Springfield’s South End, which is still family owned.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Carmeno Cicchetti and daughter, Elaine Cicchetti. Margaret and Carmeno married in 1944 and eventually moved to Wilbraham, MA and raised daughters, Kristine Duclos and Diane Coxe.

Margaret was loved and cherished by her family and friends, including many nieces and nephews but especially by her nieces and wonderful end of life caregivers, Joan Siciliano, Barbara Colby and Marie Cipriani.  She adored her 2 sons-in-law, Michael Duclos and Robert Coxe. She was blessed with 7 wonderful grandchildren: Ryan, Jeremy and Jessica (McDonald) Duclos, Matthew, Meghan (Beecham), Cara (Demme-Pratt) and Griffin Coxe, and their wonderful spouses:  Linda Duclos, Scott McDonald, Joshua Beecham, David Demme-Pratt and Brittany Coxe and 9 beautiful great grandchildren Olivia and Juliana Duclos, Ainsleigh and Rorie McDonald, Carley and Cameron Coxe, Monte and Weston Beecham, and Greer Demme-Pratt.

Family was everything to Margaret and “Nanny’s” delicious Italian family meals, contagious smile and spirited personality will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

A Funeral Liturgy for Margaret will be held on August 11, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main Street, Wilbraham. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of service. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis or to a charity of choice.  For more information, please visit www.nefcc.net
