Springfield—Luis Castro-Colon, 85, died October 29, 2011 in Mercy Medical Center. Born on April 10, 1926 in Gurabo, Puerto Rico to Miguel Castro and Victoria Colon, he had been self-employed as a salesman for many years. He was a chaplain in Puerto Rico for more than 25 years and assisted the elderly at Ryder Hospital in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Prior to arriving in Springfield he had lived in Boston, MA. He was a devout member of his Pentacostal church, Voz que Clama en el Desierto in Springfield, MA and was the oldest member. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers: Emileo, Bernardo and Ramon Castro and sister Rafaela Castro. He leaves his brothers: Antonio, Andres, Manuel and Jose Castro and his sisters: Laura, Ramona and Maria Castro; his sister-in-law Julia Montanez of Springfield, MA and nephews: Juan Guadalupe, Jose M., Nelson, Miguel, Jose A., Carlos, Arnaldo, Luis, Omal and Ramon Castro; nieces: Isabel,
Marge, Ester and Nilda Castro, Juanita and Emilia Guadalupe and Carmen Marcano. The funeral will be on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 6:45 pm. The family will receive friends before the service from 4-6:45 pm at Voz que Clama en el Desierto Church, 520 RA Main Street, in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, MA.
