Lionel R. Cote, Jr.

CHICOPEE-Lionel R. Cote, Jr., 61, died on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Born in Holyoke, MA on September 13, 1951 to Lionel R. Sr. and Rena G. (Chagnon) Cote, he was a longtime area resident and a parishioner of St. Rose de Lima in Chicopee, MA. Lionel proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a member of the Assumption Drum and Bugle Corps, alumni of the Marksmen Drum and Bugle Corps and a 3rd degree member of the Castle of Knights in Chicopee, MA. Lionel loved the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, especially for their 2004 World Series victory over the St. Louis Cardinals and their 2007 World Series victory over the Colorado Rockies. Predeceased by his father, Lionel R. Cote, Sr, he leaves his loving and devoted wife, Lana (Tamashaitis) Cote of Chicopee, MA; mother, Rena Cote of Chicopee, MA; sons: Paul and Dennis Cote of Chicopee, MA; daughter, Nadine Noel Cote of Chicopee, MA; brothers: David Cote and his wife, Carole of Chicopee, MA and Steven Cote of Winchester, VA; sisters: Linda Breen and her husband, Neil of Vero Beach, FL, Rena Geoffrey and her husband, Kenneth of Agawam, MA and Sharon Smith and her husband, Ronald of Somers, CT and his grandchildren: Skylar Autumn Phillips, Nathan Cote, Zachary Cote, Tyler Cote and Nicholas Pepech. The funeral for Mr. Cote will be held at 1:45 PM on Monday, November 19, 2012 at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108. Visitation will precede the service from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
