Leeann M. Corbett

November 4, 1952 — January 25, 2020

Monson - LeeAnn (Turcotte) (Barrett) Corbett went home to join her parents, Roland G. and Wilda E. Turcotte along with her very special Aunt Poe on January 25, 2020.

LeeAnn was the extremely loved & cherished wife of William (Bill) Corbett who will deeply miss his wife for her humor, kindness, intelligence and returned love. She is leaving behind her three sons, Billy, Scott and Michael Barrett, their spouses along with her step-daughter whom she considered her daughter, Amanda Corbett. She also is leaving ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren with another granddaughter due in May.

Born on November 4, 1952, she was the youngest sibling and will be tremendously missed by her two brothers Robert Turcotte of Myrtle Beach, NC and Richard Turcotte of Springfield, MA; her sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends. We can’t forget Trudy, Bean, Boots, Pearl, and Willow, her indoor pets, as well as many outside animals, including her geese June and Betty. Her love for animals was incredible beginning many years ago with a rescued pigeon with a broken wing that she nursed back to health, and a skunk who could no longer spray. Later she created the non-profit animal haven, S.A.R.A.H. which she ran for many years. Each of the animals she had cared for over the years were given names and will be there to greet her with their feathers spread, goats with their hairy goatees, waddling ducks, cock-a-doodle-dos crowing, chickens laying eggs in her honor, horses hoofs digging at the soil, paws playfully patting her for their caresses and many tongues ready to give her kisses as well. She promised them when they came to her that she would take care of them until their end and now with no pain, she will be able to once again be surrounded by their love and the innocent joys they brought her that she so treasured.

LeeAnn was well known throughout Baystate Health where she worked for twenty-six years ending with the Residency Program. Some of the residents formed a Medical Practice and asked her to move with them to Mercy Medical Center where she retired in 2018 after ten years. She was afraid she’d wouldn’t be remembered, but anyone who was blessed enough to have met her would say she is not one you’d ever be able to forget. It would be raining and LeeAnn was the one you’d see pulling up next to someone without an umbrella to give them one, wanting nothing in return other than her own joyous feelings of knowing she helped a fellow human being.

Everything in her life she faced with humor even when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, to her year-long battle after it came back with a vengeance throughout her body, her bravery was no different. She kept others laughing while she went through the hardest struggle of her life. Everyone should have such a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend in their life because your life would be then truly blessed.

There will be no services per her request and her ashes will be spread privately with her family gathered.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contributions be made to any charity that helps animals.

New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Visit www.nefcc.net
