EAST LONGMEADOW-Kenneth G. Sibley, 69, died August 8, 2011 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Born in Springfield, MA on August 5, 1942 to the late Louis W. and Louise G. (Beley) Sibley, he was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School, Class of 1961. The first person in his family to graduate college and the only person to achieve a Masters degree, he was very proud of his ability to support himself through college while working full time, often ironing clothes late at night for wages. Kenneth earned a Bachelor of Theology degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College and a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Springfield College. He had a distinguished career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving the community at Massachusetts Rehabilitation Counseling, Children’s Study Home, Greater Springfield Senior Services, Western Massachusetts Hospital, as Director of Social Work at Springfield Municipal Hospital and as a Medical Social Worker at the Chicopee VNA. Ken also served on the Advisory Board of Social Work Education at Western New England College. Predeceased by his parents, brothers, Charles and Robert and sister, Jeanette, he leaves his life time friend, companion and partner, Jack Goodsell of East Longmeadow, MA; his brother, Clayton Sibley and his wife, Kathy of Monson, MA; his sisters: Odette Gustafson and her husband, Roy of WA , Barbara Wright of Longmeadow, MA and Carole Racicot of East Longmeadow, MA; Theresa Albano of East Longmeadow, MA, whom he regarded like a sister; his sister-in-law, Joyce Sibley of East Longmeadow and many nieces and nephews. Ken’s intentions for his funeral will be carried out. There will be a solemn high mass and a joyful celebration and thanksgiving for his life. Friends are invited to gather for the funeral mass at 11 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1 Porter Road, East Longmeadow, MA 01028. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
