Obituary

Jynette Redd, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on May 4, 2026. She was born on November 21, 1949, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to the late Robert McWhorter and Jane (Johnson) McWhorter.Jynette was educated in the Springfield Public Schools, attending Buckingham Junior High School and Commerce High School. Determined to continue her education, she later earned her GED through the Adult Basic Education Program at American International College. Jynette worked for many years as a licensed cosmetologist, where she shared her creativity, warmth, and care with countless clients. She later dedicated over 30 years of service as a Residential Counselor at Allied Community Services, where she compassionately cared for and supported others until her retirement.In 1986, the same year she married the love of her life, Carl A. Redd, Jynette began studying to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She later became baptized and faithfully dedicated her life to the ministry of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a commitment that remained close to her heart throughout her life.Jynette was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Redd; her parents, Robert and Jane McWhorter; her sister, Ruth “Brandii” Grant; and her brother, James McWhorter.She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Victoria I. Lewis of High Point, North Carolina; her granddaughter, Jynai McDonald; and her great-grandchildren, Judah Taylor, Rizolly Sullivan, and Ruben Sullivan, all of Springfield, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her sister, Deborah Debose of Springfield, Massachusetts; her brother, Samuel McWhorter of Los Angeles, California; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Jynette will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her faith, mild manner, and unwavering beliefs. A memorial service celebrating the life of Jynette Redd will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the New England Funeral & Cremation Center, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA.
