SPRINGFIELD - We are sad to announce the death of a gem in the universe of life: Judith Barbara Gordon (Friedman) of Springfield, Massachusetts, a young 72 years of age. After a lengthy and exceedingly unfair illness, she always faced her circumstances with optimism and hope until she finally rested. She will be missed by her husband, Dr. Theodore Gordon of Springfield, Massachusetts; her brother, Jay Friedman and his wife Kathy Bacon of Annandale, Virginia; her nieces, Mara Watts (Bryan) of Reston, Virginia, and Caroline Friedman of Chicago, Illinois, and her many relatives and friends. She is the daughter of the late Israel Friedman and Minnie Friedman (Chester) of Springfield, Massachusetts.Through her laugher and her love, she brought joy and happiness to all in many ways. She distributed her handmade scarves, gloves, hats, sweaters, and holiday stockings to family, friends and charities. She fed all with large quantities of her home baked cookies distributed in times of festivity, need, or stress to her family and friends in their homes and even their college dorms. Finally, she loved playing the lottery and visiting the Connecticut casinos, bolstering all of our spirits by her persistent and extraordinary luck in her winnings and the free accommodations, food, and prizes thrown her way for being a true “high roller.”She was the smiling, upbeat office manager in her husband's optometry practice located in Ludlow, Massachusetts. Her caring demeanor and expert assistance aided patients for almost forty years of dedicated service. Even though Judi is no longer with us, she is truly and will always be our wife, sister, in-law, family and aunt extraordinaire. In honoring her wishes, there will be no services or burial. If you desire, please contribute to your favorite charity in memory of her. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield is assisting the family. Visit
