Springfield—Juan R. Santa, 82, passed away suddenly on September 4, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Puerto Rico on July 5, 1929 to Ramon and Catalina Ramos he came to the United States in 1964 and worked as a construction engineer. He was one of 13 children and one of 3 who survived a colic epidemic in Puerto Rico. Sadly, he helped bury his brothers and sisters on the family property when he was a little boy between the age of 5 and 7. He leaves his loving wife Leida (Rosario) Ramos, children: Juan (Anabella P.), Coco (Maria), Roldan (Janet), Manuel Ramos and Lucy Ramos (Angel Cintron); his children from a previous marriage: Mary, Negrita and Machito Ramos; grandchildren: Grungo, Daniel, Angel Jr. Ramon, Luceida, Justin, Izabela, Alicia, Jay-R, Joshua, Krystal, Kianny, Jay, Kenny, Yaniza, Iren, Zamara, Molly, Luisito, Joe, and Cano, especially those who assisted in his care to the end; great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 3:00-6:00PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill St., Springfield, MA. The funeral for Mr. Santa will be on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 8:45AM assembling at the funeral center, proceeding to St. Michael Cathedral for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM.
