Springfield -Joyce Ann Westbrook, age 48, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
She was born on November 24, 1970 in Springfield, MA to Alberta Westbrook and the late Reginald Johnson. She was a 1988 graduate of Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical High School.
She worked for 25 years as a certified nurse’s aide at Mary Lyon Nursing Home in Hampden. In 2012 she joined the Springfield Public School system as a para professional working with special needs children. Her passion for children radiated everyday as the children would migrate towards her warm kind and loving smile. Joyce truly lived a life giving to others and caring for those who needed help.
She opened her heart and her home to many family and friends over the years and she will be sorely missed. She lived life to the fullest through her simple pleasures: cooking, gardening, arts & crafts and taking care of her most precious daughter, Alivia Pelzer.
She is survived by her mother Alberta Westbrook and her brother Michael Westbrook. She is predeceased by her father Reginald Johnson and her sister Bertha L. Westbrook.
