SOUTH HADLEY - Jon B. Bunyan died June 1, 2014 at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke after a long illness. He was the son of the late Albert and Olive (Dunbar) Bunyan. Jon served in the United States Air Force stationed in Japan. He was born in Holyoke, August 12, 1938 and raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee. Owner/operator of Edison Airport Service, Jon served the Five Colleges and surrounding communities for 25 years. He is survived by his wife Barbara (St. Martin) Bunyan. Affectionately known as “Pa” to stepchildren Mark (Lisa) Adams of South Hadley, Vanessa Adams of East Boston, nephew Greg McNulty and niece Barbara Stark. He will lovingly be remembered as “Pepere” to his grandchildren Jordan Leonard, Morgan Adams, Sophia Daniels, Anthony Adams, great nephew Leo Stark, and Lauren Capannola. He leaves his sister Eleanore (William) Johnson, his mother-in-law Annette St. Martin and sister-in-law Claire (Gene) Larsen and several nieces and nephews. Jon was predeceased by his brother Richard, sister, Marjorie, and twin brother Jim. At Jon’s request, services are private. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Soldiers’ Home of Holyoke and the VNA Hospice of Cooley Dickinson for their care, compassion, patience and kindnesses.
