John J. Conway

October 9, 1935 — September 5, 2010

Jack was born on October 9, 1935 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, the oldest of seven children of John and Lillian (Woods) Conway. Jack graduated from Sacred Heart Parochial School in Holyoke. Preceded in death by his sister Peggy Kaplan, he leaves behind his wife, Nancy, of 13 years, his three sisters: Marcella Lowe, of Holyoke, Betty Young, of Idaho, and Beatrice Whalen, of New Hampshire. He also leaves his two brothers, Patrick Conway, of Springfield, and Michael Conway, of Idaho, plus grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack truly loved all his spiritual brothers and sister and was especially fond of his sister, Dolores Wilson. He enjoyed looking for costume jewelry he thought she might like at flea markets he and Nancy visited. Vacations weren’t vacations without her. His spiritual brothers were also a source of great encouragement to him and he cherished their visits. A day did not go by without him thinking about Aunt Annie, whom he dearly loved. Reading the Bible was his passion and speaking to any and every person he met about Bible Truths was what brought joy to his life. He had a big and generous heart and always thought of others and what he could do for them. He truly enjoyed participating in commenting at meetings even though his speech was hard to decipher….but he left the interpreting work to his wife. He was a strong but gentle giant of a brother and remained faithful to his assignment to make disciples of people even though his illness was long and difficult. He looked forward to the time when all would live on the beautiful Paradise earth where there would be no suffering, no pain, no more sickness nor old age and no more death. He often spoke of returning to his youthful vigor and serving his God, Jehovah forever. Donations to his memory may be made to The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, New York 11201. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, Massachusetts is assisting the family. For expressions of sympathy please visit www.nefcc.net
