John Charles Collins

The family of John Charles Collins, 44, of Springfield, Massachusetts, announces with great sadness his unexpected passing on September 9, 2023, at his home, the place he loved most in the world. John was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. Known as “Jackie” to his family, John loved dogs-first Roxanne, then Keyla, and now Cici. John attended Wilbraham and Longmeadow Schools where he played football and hockey. He attended STCC with a focus in Business Management. John was the owner of Collins Construction Company. He was a skilled contractor who helped others with their home improvement projects. He had a passion for horticulture and gardening. He enjoyed nature and especially boating on the lake at his home. John was introduced to boating at the age of 3 months at the family home in Old Lyme Shores, CT. This developed into a special time of relaxation and meditation for him. John is survived by his father John R. Collins of Springfield and his mother Mary Jean (McKenna) Reilly (Stephen Reilly, Sr.) of Wilbraham; his siblings Sarah Sullivan (Randy) and Christopher Collins (Karen); his three nephews: Carter Collins, Ryan Sullivan and Collin Sullivan whom he truly loved, as well as several aunts and uncles. John’s smile and kind heart will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in his honor. Family and close friends are cordially invited to visit on September 22,2023 from 9:15-10AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108.
