John D. Bodnar

July 21, 1939 — January 7, 2023

John David Bodnar was born on July 21, 1939 in Pittsfield, MA to Dave and Louise (Kirkland) Bodnar and grew up in Stockbridge, MA. He passed away on January 7, 2023.
He was a 55-year resident of East Longmeadow, MA and a retired 35-year teacher in the Enfield, CT school system. He attended the University of Kentucky and was a graduate of American International College and achieved advanced degrees in Education from Westfield State University and the University of Connecticut.  Over the years, he was passionate about live music concerts, golf, tennis, baseball and basketball which connected him with many true friends.
He leaves to remember him with love and humor his wife of 60 years, Judie (Masiero) Bodnar, his children: Jeff Bodnar, Jill Bodnar, Jonathan Bodnar, Jay Bodnar and his wife Meg Bodnar and his adored grandchildren: Malia Bodnar, Ryan Bodnar and Evan Xie. He also leaves his sister Marilyn Bodnar and her husband John Hench of Albuquerque, NM, brother Russell Bodnar and his wife Tracy Bodnar of Aztec, NM; cousins in Western KY as well as his long-time friends and caring neighbors who enjoyed his company and humor.
A private celebration of John’s life will be held in Stockbridge, MA Town Cemetery.
Special memories of John may be expressed with a donation to St. Mary’s Academy, where each week he looked forward to volunteering, 56 Hopkins Place, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
